The safety concerns over intensive glycaemic control in type 2 diabetes may also apply to type 1 diabetes, Australian research has suggested.
All-cause mortality risk was increased in patients with type 1 diabetes who had the lowest levels of HbA1c levels compared to patients in the mid range of glycaemia, according to a study co-authored by Danielle Schoenaker of the School of Population Health, University of Queensland.
