Hi everyone,

I passed my driving test May 2018 but due to developing T1, I've now been given my new restricted medical license.
When it comes to car insurance, I'm guessing now I have to say that I've held my license since June 2020, is this correct? Annoyed about this as its made my premium so expensive :( Thank you everyone

No - you have had a licence since you had a licence - but you should explain that you are an insulin dependant diabetic - and you need to report if you have had a bad hypo incident - the information ought to be on the DVLA website.

Yes, that is when you passed your test, so that is the relevant date.
If for example you moved house, you would need to apply for a new driving licence then but you wouldn't expect that to change the date you needed to declare you got your licence.... if that makes sense?

You do need as @Drummer says, to inform the insurance company that you are an insulin dependent diabetic though but it should not affect your insurance premium.
