Carly was poorly all week started with bad cold virus followed by ear and eye infection then bad coughing, referred to A&E she had croup and was given steroid then the next day she became lethargic her blood sugar level stay higher than 20s despite following sick rules!! Ketones developed so she was admitted in hospital.... I'm happy to say she's back at home now her specialist said we worked hard with insulin and getting Carly to drink lot of fluid now blood sugar coming down ketones coming down and gone I think we are winning 🙂

Poor Carly!

Glad to hear she is on the mend now. K had croup once when she was about 3 - was the most scared I have ever been about her health (and that includes when she was in hospital after D diagnosis) - it's so awful when they can't breath properly:( Luckily hers didn't need a hospital admission but I nearly did!

There is no 'good' age to get diabetes but I really don't envy parents of little ones - at least my K can (and does) tell me when she feels bad and she understands what is happening. They get so scared when they are little:(

((Hugs)) to you both -

Glad she is on the mend............

Poor Carly, sounds like she got everything going!

It's scary when those ketones creep in, and sometimes it is just beyond all you can do at home to get them down. Sounds like you are over the worst thank goodness. Hopefully you will get back to normal and have some stable BGs for a while ( I call this respite :D )

Oh 😱 - like you need the BG increasing properties of Steroids, when your blood is more G than B, already.

It's a pig though when they are necessary.

Are you busy humidifying? or don't they do that for croup these days?
