Just received a poorly-photocopied NHS leaflet through the post from my surgery. Isn't it a bit late to be telling me about safe use of insulin after 4 years of using it? 😱

Someone box ticking perhaps...?

Letter going round the PCT...?

🙄

The leaflet has the name of the GPSI (GP with Special Interest) in diabetes and the name of the 'diabetic' nurse on the back. Wasn't impressed with the GP when I saw them shortly after diagnosis, so see a different one, plus I'm pretty certain that the nurse is not diabetic! 🙄

Perhaps it's never too late to remind people.

For example, there are still people who think you need to keep insulin in fridge at all times, except for 30mins before injecting, and didn't know about insulin cartridges & pens instead of vials & syringes, as I discovered last week, when I met a couple of people (one UK trained, 1 trained in East Germany before reunification of Germany in 1990) who had both left nursing about 15 years ago. So, there could be people who were instructed about using insulin, say 15 - 20 years ago, and making life more difficult for themselves than it need be.

However, poorly photocopied leaflets aren't good - shows no-one thought to stick a Post-It note on an orginal and keep it in a plastic punched pocket.
