Unfortunately I can't get access to the full report but very interesting/useful nevertheless for anyone affected by such circumstances.

A discussion of insulin resistance in a 10-year-old girl successfully treated with pork insulin is presented. This patient had antibodies to beef insulin. The insulin requirement with beef insulin was in excess of 200 units per day and decreased to about 35 units per day with pork insulin. There was no response to steroid administration.
The literature is reviewed for the very limited number of cases of insulin resistance in children. Only 16 cases under 16 years of age were found. The different types of management of these children with insulin resistance are discussed.
