I wondered exactly the same as it's never happened to me, in fact the opposite, after when I've been sloshed - there again I've never done that on a regular basis.
Could it be rebound highs after alcohol-related hypos (even slight ones)? I bolus for beer and lager, but prefer sticking to drinks that don’t need a bolus.

There are many things that affect our blood sugar levels.
Typically alcohol causes lows (our livers are too busy dealing with the toxic alcohol that they cannot drip glucose)
