Straightforward question.... is it all right to reduce my insulin if blood sugars are getting too low for me? Just a yes or no please, thanks.

Yes

If you have not been taught to adjust your insulin yourself then you need to discuss it with your nurse or doctor. We are not supposed to advise people on insulin doses.

How low are your levels going and when? Also which insulin do you use? Could it be the timing of the insulin that needs changing rather than a reduction? There are many things to consider with insulin usage and a Yes/No answer cannot safely cover all the possibilities in my opinion.

Yes.
As long as you know what you are doing, and as a matter of interest what do you call too low for me? 🙂

your Dr / DSN will advise (as mine did to me with a phone consultation 4 times recently)
how low is your low ?
have a record of your self tested results when you speak to the Dr as they calculate how much a reduction you require (if you do need a reduction)

The fact that your asking suggests you don't know what to do so I'd definitely recommend that you talk with whoever provides your care until you know a bit more about it xx

You’re just on a basal insulin @Ditzyoldme ?

Yes, if you’re going low it might need reducing. How low are you going - and how high are you going? Sometimes a different insulin can help if the one a person is taking doesn’t fit their needs.

Worth a chat with your nurse to explain your lows and get advice.
