Insulin Discontinued - Levemir

Sorry if this has been asked before. I've just seen that there has been supply issues on insulin and with a quick Google that levemir is being discontinued.

I'm a bit concerned as I wasn't aware of this.

Can anyone let me know what's happening?

It's being discontinued in the US. No suggestion so far that it's being discontinued anywhere else.

My guess is that (for whatever reasons) it just wasn't selling that well there and so it made sense to discontinue it.

Even the discontinuation in the US seems to be in doubt now. Looks as if it was selling well for some people (especially pregnant women for whom it is the only FDA approved slow acting insulin).

(BTW The Search field at the top right of every page is really useful to check to see if something has been discussed previously)
