00:00 - 11:00 - 1 unit for 6g
11:00 - 17:00 - 1 unit for 6.5g
17:00 - 21:30 - 1 unit for 5g
21:30 - 00:00 - 1 unit for 6g

Although I am starting to think I am much more affected by 'other' things than food sometimes - I have EXACTLY the same for breakfast every day, but often get dramatically different results mid morning and lunchtime. Same with lunch when I have the same sandwiches 2 days running.

I know, I know, keep testing!

Hi - could that be your basal being a bit out ? Just a thought.

Mills is on 11:1 for breakfast, 15:1 for any mid morning snacks, 17:1 for lunch and 19:1 tea and onwards.
Finding too like NRB the higher the reading the less insulin sensitive she becomes, not fine tuned this yet 🙄

My ratios are 1: 7 at breakfast ; 1:10 at lunch and 1:9 at dinner (though I am currently trying to sort this one out as I keep ending up slightly low at bedtime - currently trying 1:9. as the 1:10 I used to use wasn't quite right).

I currently take 2:10 for all meals, although DSN feels that this is too much insulin for me as I am petite. Tried 1.5:10 but levels too high so back to 2:10 for now. Correction dose 1 u brings BS down by 1.5.

Surprised that K takes that much insulin, I am quite insulin resisant, 6ft 4 and a big guy so not surprising for me. Looking at her ratios I'm very surprised that you have been told not to cover snacks of 15g, surely on her ratio regime that is equivalent to 3 units!? also would have guessed her correction dose would have been higher looking at her ratios.

Have you thought of pump therapy....it is the best thing I have ever done after 15 years of MDI, a pump has been perfect for my lifestyle and so much more flexible, exercising and eating whenever I want at the touch of a bolus button! 🙂

Thanks but thats hormones for you - K's numbers still equate to between 1 unit and 1 and a half units per kilo of body weight a day (so weight 50kg = 50 units insulin inc long acting per day) which is expeted for a growing teen.
Agree that correction dose not quite right - prob. needs to be 1 and a half units but we cant do halves:( so we are going to discuss best way to deal with corrections ( try not to have them😛)
and also agree about snacks which is why she doesnt have one without injecting very often - only if feeling low anyway.
She has never been offered a pump - her control is too good I assume and also they give you a psycological test (i think) which I dont think she would do to well in at the mo
(sorry to hijack thread)
