i had a call today from my hospital based dsn and i have my insulin back. but its going to be delivered by a district nurse every day. dsn said the nurse would be calling me in next couple of days to arrange times. i will be on a once a day insulin. and it will be delivered at aprox same time every day. im so excited to be getting insulin back as bs levels are c**p at moment. i am however unhappy at having to let someone into my flat every day as im very paranoid about people coming into my flat and to be honest at the back of my mind was taking an overdose sorry but im not going to lie about it

Hi Gail,

The district nurses will be very efficient in giving you your insulin, I'm sure they'll be in and out in no time, and you'll have the benefit of having the rest of the day to yourself and feeling better from getting those BG's down. You will get to know them and with that comes trust. Do take the risk and give it a go, your health is worth it.

If you feel serious about an overdose or feel overwhelmed please use your contact numbers to discuss it with someone trained to support your mental health.

TC🙂

Gail, that's great news about the insulin 🙂 Try not to worry about the nurse, she must visit hundreds of homes a week and her purpose in being there is to care for her patients. After you've met her once or twice I'm sure things won't feel so bad.

I do hope things go well, please let us know and try not to have negative thoughts - getting the insulin and better blood sugars will make you feel much better about things generally, so try to look at it in that way. Also, you have a great day out on Saturday to look forward to and we can have a chat about it then if you would like 🙂

Hi Gail, that's great news! I really hope & believe that with getting your levels a bit lower with the insulin you'll start to feel better, & that maybe actually seeing the nurse every day might turn into a positive - I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that she's a lovely person that you feel safe with and warm to quickly. Definitely worth giving it a go. Xxx

It's wonderful that you have the insulin back. I really hope it helps bring the numbers down again and, who knows, establishing a routine to follow each day may help you learn to trust yourself with the stuff. It may help your team to trust you with it as well.

Hope the insulin does bring your levels back to a better range. It's likely to be the same district nurse most of the time, except when s/he's on days off, so it should be a bit easier for you once you get used to who is coming. Presumably, s/he's bringing the insulin syringe ready, but will jits watch while you inject, not inject for you? You might even find that you can share a drink - eg tea / coffee / squash, obviously nothing alcoholic or high sugar 🙂

Hi Gail, I hope it all works out for you.

All the district/community nurses I know are ery professional and will see as much or as little of your flat as you want them to see. Their main criteria are a clean safe place to carry out the treatment in and you have that.

i had my first jab yesterday im on 14 units a day of lantus different nurse both days and neither have turned a hair or said anything about state of flat one i saw this morning talked about me going to gps monday to friday for jabs and only seeing them at weekends shes going to get in touch with my gp. bs this morning was 29.4

Great that you're getting the insulin Gail! 🙂 Hopefully, those numbers will come down before too long. Also good to hear the nurse(s) didn't bat an eyelid - probably a bit like when the man comes to read my meter, they just concentrate on the job in hand 🙂

Even better if you can go to the GP for most of them so you don't have to wait in. 🙂

Hi Gail glad you are getting the insulin. You will feel so much better when your BGs go down. Going to the GP for injections sounds a good idea 🙂

So glad you are getting your insulin Gail.

I'm sure your flat is fine, but the nurses are there to look after your insulin, not view your home. They'll be visiting all sorts of different places at all sort of times in the day and night. You don't have to be up ready and dressed if they are visiting too early either, they will take you as they find you, do their bit and be satisfied you are ok 🙂 (Nice you have the option of the GP's too btw if it suits )

think the horder next door and you have an idea of the state of flat

That's good you have your insulin back.
Hopefully your bloods will come down soon & you'll feel tonnes better 🙂
