Hi. Just a quick query. I have been on once daily insulin for 3 months. Now on 40 units a day in the morning. Is it normal to have digestive issues as a result of insul
When I was on oral medication they caused a lot of problems after years of taking them. Now I am not on any other medication apart from insulin. I don't have problems all the time. Its usually when I increase the insulin by a couple of units as per my treatment plan so thats why I asked the question. Its not mentioned as a side effect on the information sheet.I had what I thought was IBS and was later shown to be due to my insulin, so the answer is Yes, in theory.
However, you also need to consider other meds you’re on, other possible causes - and speak to your GP if your issues continue just so they can rule out more serious causes.
You need to speak who ever prescribed it for you. When I was on oral medication they caused a lot of problems after years of taking them. Now I am not on any other medication apart from insulin.
