Insulin and Tummy Trouble

Hi. Just a quick query. I have been on once daily insulin for 3 months. Now on 40 units a day in the morning. Is it normal to have digestive issues as a result of insulin?
 
What is the name of the Insulin you are on and are you any another medication? What do you mean digestive problems?
 
This is not a problem I have come across but there are different types of insulin and we are all different.
Like all medication, there should be a leaflet in the box with your insulin which describes possible side-effects.
 
I had what I thought was IBS and was later shown to be due to my insulin, so the answer is Yes, in theory.

However, you also need to consider other meds you’re on, other possible causes - and speak to your GP if your issues continue just so they can rule out more serious causes.

When I was on oral medication they caused a lot of problems after years of taking them. Now I am not on any other medication apart from insulin. I don't have problems all the time. Its usually when I increase the insulin by a couple of units as per my treatment plan so thats why I asked the question. Its not mentioned as a side effect on the information sheet.

You need to speak who ever prescribed it for you.

It’s not a side effect as such - more that some people are intolerant of some insulins. The only way you could find out if you are would be by trying a different insulin.
