Hi there

I am travelling abroad and was wondering what the best thing would be to carry the insulin to keep it cool.

Any advice would be helpful.

How long are you away for? Insulin can be kept out of a fridge for 28 days unless you’ll be somewhere very hot. If I need to keep it cool, I always use a Frio wallet.

Make sure you keep your insulin with you in your hand luggage and take twice as much of everything as you think you’ll need.

You can get Frio wallets from Diabetes UK here - https://shop.diabetes.org.uk/collections/frio-insulin-wallets or a wider selection directly from Frio here - https://friouk.com/

Insulin is fine out of the fridge as Inka says, but only up to about 25-30 degrees c (the exact temperature depends on the exact insulin) so if you're going somewhere hotter than that it's definitely worth having a Frio wallet. I keep my insulin in one over the summer here just in case, as our house can get very hot, and especially if I'm going anywhere in a hot car.

Also worth taking the white copy of your prescription in case you need to get replacements for anything.

Safe travels @KJP1 🙂
