Hi, looking for some advice/help.

My wee boy is changing from Libre 2 plus to the Dexcom G7 and I was wondering if it’s straight forward to change the cgm from Libre to Dexcom on the Insulet device?

Hope the switch goes smoothly @Alanm75

The change from Libre2 to Dex G7bshould be relatively straightforward - I think @Proud to be erratic has made the same switch?

I’m not sure about the integration with Insulet - but hopefully they have a phone line / support team you can call if needed. Are you in contact with a Rep who may be able to help with the switch?

Hi @Alanm75
I was watching the video Connection to Sensor : Dexcom G7 today (link below).
It explains how to change from one type of sensor to another (towards the end of the video). Looks like the change needs to be made between pod changes.
Hope it helps.

Thanks very much. We are in contact with Diabetes team in Glasgow and I phone the Insulet team when need be. We will be doing the switch at night when there is a lack on help.

Hi @Alanm75, I found the transition from Libre 2 to G7 was seamless. I verified my android phone was compatible with G7 from Dexcom's website; in practice if your phone is not compatible you can't download the Dexcom apps. I know nothing about Insulet.

The G7 has a geolocator within the sensor, which can recognise if you are trying to monitor the sensor from a country which is not formally recognised by Dexcom for G7. Because I didn't have roaming data in France and Germany while out of UK, the G7 app froze on me and insisted I tried to delete then reinstall the app. It worked on Eurostar WiFi, then the French hotel WiFi, but froze once I was away from the hotel. Reinstalling the app didn't work thus I was then summarily denied any access to the app, until I was back in UK. In hindsight I probably should have not deleted and done the reinstallation and the app might have restarted once back in the Hotel. I had to revert to finger pricking. Dexcom initially insisted this "couldn't happen"; I pointed out that it had happened and told them the details of the error message. They then replaced 2 sensors and as a gesture of apology (without admitting liability) they provided me with a Receiver (the equivalent of Abbotts Reader); this Receiver is not affected by the geolocator and works alongside the phone app, yet independently of the app.

Hope your transfer goes well. I find G7 far superior to Libre 2 in the alert (alarm) thresholds and choices of sounds. It has generally been very accurate and reliable for me. Good luck.

Thanks a lot mate. I’ve downloaded the Dexcom app to my phone so we are hoping it all goes seamlessly

I didn’t go to the g7, but I did move from the libre 2 plus to the g6 and it was very easy and simple.

Pleased to say it all went swimmingly. Only thing I had to do was delete the app and let my wee boy become primary user and then allow me to follow him so now I can see his readings everyday.
Since the changeover on Friday we are finding there has been no connectivity issues and no loss of sensor values. So far so good.
Thanks to everyone who answered my thread.

Just to complete my comments about geolocator, @Alanm75, a weird behaviour of the G7 app recurred this last weekend.

I was based in Exeter, using mobile data and hotel WiFi. During a 60 min coach journey I lost all phone signal and mobile data. I quickly came to realise that my G7 app had un-registered myself from the web-based Clarity data store and every 15 mins or so the app would wake itself up and tell me I was disconnected, with notification alerts (alarms). This was inconvenient, but not a massive problem - my sensor was still transmitting to the app and my trusty Receiver was working perfectly. The inconvenience was the stream of app intrusions, interference when I was trying to log data such as doses and meals AND draining my phone battery more rapidly than normal. Some time after I arrived home and back onto my home Wi-Fi last night, the disconnection evaporated and normal service was resumed with me registered again, with no residual hint there had ever been a problem.

This was not an identical repeat of the geolocator problem while overseas, but it is as if the G7 phone app cannot tolerate being disconnected from the www for any length of time - throws a wobble - and causes angst. Fortunately, because I wasn't tempted to uninstall and reinstall the app, I was inconvenienced, but nothing more. The app did invite me to go through a reconnect process, which needed my email address and password; the former I can remember(!!) but not the password and Dexcom don't seem to allow passwords associated with their apps to be digitally remembered on android phones. Dexcom also doesn't allow you to take screenshot photos, as part of their standard security protocols.

I'll need to take this latest incident up with Dexcom support - there's a glitch somewhere in the app software. But I'm on a fast turnround for a 2nd longer period away, starting tomorrow. So that dialogue with Dexcom must take its turn in the priorities. Bottom line for you, @Alanm75, it might be useful for you to know there is a potential element of app instability on android phones.
