- Relationship to Diabetes
For the last week or so, my usual sleep patterns have been disturbed. I have always been able to sleep extremely well my whole life, never waking up. Since around Monday last week I would wake up around 4am with this slight feeling that I need to urinate. Most times though, I didn't actually end up going to pee because it doesn't feel like there is much there, however this slight feeling that I could go is present.
Also I've noticed a slight dry, slightly sticky mouth upon waking. During the entire day and evening I've been mostly fine - no symptoms. It's just whatever is going on here, is waking up me up. A few times I've been able to get back to sleep and then there's been a few days actually where I've slept through but this morning for example, I've just woken up at 4:15 with a slight dry mouth and this slight urge to urinate (but again haven't peed yet). The entire day though I've been and felt like 100%.
Anyway, last week on Thursday I tested my blood sugar, 2 hours after breakfast (55-60 grams of carb) and it was normal (7.0 /126) - as in non-diabetic but ever since I have been concerned and decided to lower my carb intake. So is it possible that this new diet of reducing carbs is causing this sleep disturbance? I've heard when someone goes from having high carbs to lower carbs sleep can be affected due to less serotonin in their bodies? Not sure if that explains the dry mouth and the slight urge to urinate?
