Ok, ive got one for you all, do you find a particular injection site more sensitive than others (im talking about how quickly the insulin gets going / get into your system).

any thoughts?

There are different absorption rates depending on where you inject. I think the stomach is the fastest, followed by legs/arms with buttocks being the slowest. Depends on what you intend to do too - it'll get absorbed quicker if you use the muscles in the area you inject - e.g. going for a run after injecting in the legs. Also, if an area is used a lot then the fatty tissue can cause an uneven absorption, so you need to vary the sites as much as possible to let them 'recover'!

For these reasons I use my legs/buttocks for my basal insulin and my arms/stomach for my bolus. I find my arms faster than my stomach so use them if I need to correct.

I've always used my thighs for my Levemir until recently, but the great people on this site have taught me that you can also use the buttocks, so, thats what I do now to give the thighs a rest. My Novorapid goes into the tummy.

I would love a really long right arm so I can inject in my left side of bum.....I have never managed it sucessfully. Odd, I know but never a truer word spoken.

I find my legs most sensitive - possibly because the lantus stings though!

The most comfortable place I inject my novorapid is my side - probably because of the errr love handles 😛
