Whats wrong with using your index finger? She didn't wash first more important.

It is how it should be , luckily ive never had any trouble when using injections , but with the ratio of americans with diabetes being so much higher i would have been a bit surprised if anyone had batted an eyelid tbh 🙂 . Did find it a bit strange she called it shooting up , im a diabetic on insulin and wouldnt want to use that reference 😱

I was told not to use my index fingers (or thumbs) as we use these more than the others and obviously you can do damage over time. I use my little fingers almost exclusively 🙂

Thankfully I have never had anyone tell me off for injecting in public, I have had looks off people but I am very discreet when I do it and try not to make a show of it. I have actually asked co-workers I have had lunch with whether they are okay with needles!!

I was told not to use index finger aswell, dont know why but I have followed the advice through

I've had a lot of issues with injecting. The worst experience was with my other halfs grand parents. They made me go and test and inject in the bathroom. Didn't tell my partner until we left and which made him very angry. Had a few other issues out and about too but it won't stop me! I'd quite like to see old age!

Thats terrible especially when there your partners family,we have enough trouble getting grief off strangers never mind families, when i inject I choose to do it away from my family but they would not mind me injecting by them or in front of them.🙄
Im another one who never uses her index finger

The funny thing is that his step-grandmothers brother is diabetic too. She should know better! His grandad would probably be fine with it but she doesn't let him talk!

Never been given advice on testing, other than to wash hands first and to stop doing it so often. 🙄

I've always asked people if they're ok with needles, but the only times I've had a "no" as a reply, they've just looked away. I never offer to leave the room and have never been asked to.

Luck of the draw I guess, as to who we end up having to inject in front of.🙂

There's some funny beggars out there ! :D

Indeed. A friend of mine who I thought would be alright about it recoiled in horror when I suggested I was going to test myself - you'd think I'd asked if I could urinate on his shoes! Really surprised me! 😱

I've not yet been in a position where I've needed to inject in public. I can freely do it in front of my family as they hardly even notice. My grandson usually gives me a hug after I've done it, which is nice. If I ever test in front of my friends they usually just show an interest or ask me to test them.

I was told not to use my index fingers or thumbs too. I was told it's because they are our 'pincers' and we need them to be as pain and callous free as posible. I only ever use the little finger and ring finger on my left hand. I always wash my hands and rinse them well first too. XXXXX
