Welcome to the forum
@Lego3
Well done on making a good start to your diabetes management.
Sounds like you have quite a bit of experience of diabetes in your family, but just a quick scan around the forum will show you that everyone’s experience of diabetes is slightly different, and the most important thing is to discover what works for you as an individual, and gives you the results you are looking for with changes and strategies that you can maintain long-term.
Have you see foot problems in your family? These are not uncommon, but they are certainly not inevitable either.
What changes have you been making so far? Are you managing to reduce your total carbohydrate intake (as well as cutting back on the sweet things)?

Maggie Davey’s Letter and Gretchen Becker’s book
T2 Diabetes, the first year, which may cover lots of ground you are already familiar with… but you might also make this a fresh start free from ‘family approaches’ to find your own way through the diabetes management maze.
