In a good news for millions of diabetic patients across the world, an Indian scientist has managed to develop a potential non-insulin drug that can eliminate the risk of low-blood glucose shock if the diabetic patients get an insulin overdose.

The drug has been developed by Arnab De, a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Columbia University in New York, in collaboration with Richard Di Marchi of Indiana University.

Insulin is used by diabetic patients to keep their sugar levels in check but if they take it more than required then it can lead to low blood-glucose (hypoglycemia), which may cause diabetic-coma and be life-threatening.
