Relationship to Diabetes

Hi all
I've seen a few other threads on this but was hoping something might have changed? I'm in the process of trying to get life and income protection insurance in order to buy a house. We've spoken to our financial advisor who can get me life insurance (considerably more than my partner who has no health issues, but hey ho), but I can't get income protection.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND how this isn't considered discrimination? I've been diabetic for 17 years and have reasonable control (only admitted to hospital twice; when I was first diagnosed and when I had complications after flu but this was 15 years ago!)
Does anyone know of an income protection insurance that could exclude anything relating to diabetes? Or one that takes into account that apart from the diabetes I am in perfect health?
Thanks in advance.

Speak with the DUK helpline. They may have some pointers.
Otherwise Google is your friend. I found quite a few brokers who state that they can provide income protection/critical illness cover with pre-existing conditions.
