Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi there,
Last week I had a bit of a wobble with my blood sugar, and in retrosepect went about things in the wrong way. I suspected a possibility of T2 diabeties and ask my wife to bring a kit back from work (she is a nurse) I tested my bloods last night and it gave a reading of 26.7 which I'm lead to believe isn't very good, this morning it was down to 15.07 and I'm looking to get it under 5 by the weekend. The reason I'm in denial is all previous checks have been clear and there's no history of Diabetes in the family. But I'm aware that my lifestyle isn't the most angelic when it comes to exercise and alcohol, I'm taking this as my body firing a warning shot across the bows and address some of the danger points. If it turns out that I am T2 then I raise to the challenge and reverse it.

Those readings would indicate serious hyperglycaemia. You need to get a proper diagnosis. If you continue with readings at this level you are at risk of complications.

The mistake I made was re hydrating myself with fresh orange juice and water, not understanding that 1 litre of OJ has the same amount of sugar as 1 litre of Lucazade.

The quicker you get seen to the lower the risk of any long terms issues.....😉

Alas, a non-diabetic should be able to handle that.... I'd get yourself to the Dr.'s for a formal evaluation.

BTW, welcome to the group

Welcome from a fellow diabetic.
One thing to remember is that your BG will be up and down throughout the day. And may vary from one day to the next.
15 is high.

Hi, The best thing you can do for yourself is, get an appointment with your GP asap. You not only need to know if your diabetic but what type you have . It can seem frightening at first but we're all here to tell the tale and we'll do our best to help you.
Those numbers are high ,so please don't wait to seek medical help.

Get yourself to the doctor as soon as possible. My blood sugar was 26 and I was hospitalised for five days. I also suspected before my diagnosis as I work in health care and do have a family history. My dad had it and left it and ended up going into a coma and dying when I was thirteen x my brother and sister also have it but they are fine x denial is a dangerous game I know coz I played it too even with my family history xx not trying to scare anybody just telling it as it is x

Thanks for the update @Anthony Stirrat, we were all worried about you 🙂.
Let us know how you get on on Wednesday.

Still more than a muggle (what PWD call non-Ds LOL) would be, Anthony. Hope you hadn't just eaten before the test or anything?

New update:
Docs today, my hba1c is 94 and I've been put on metaformin 500 twice a day. I've been working on my diet and exercise and have got my bgl to 6.5. I start the pills tomorrow
