Relationship to Diabetes

Thought some Of you may like to know of an off the cuff comment made during Impacting Wrestling which is repeated tonight on Challenge TV about 9pm in the show there is an exchange between two feuding wrestlers, Austin Aries & Bully Ray (Brother Ray Dudley for those old school WWF fans). In the vinyet Bully Ray points out Aries size how small he is etc, to which Aries replies back about Ray being rather large and in fact an advert for Obesity and Type 2 diabetes 😱. Now as a type 1 I in took breath and most people wouldn't have noticed but Impact is the biggest brand in the UK ATM regularly beating WWE program's on Sky Sports.

Just though I would raise it but be warned that these vinyet skits are often recorded off the cuff with them talking backstage about what they are going to say generally before recording it so I can't say if Aries engaged his brain or not because he is quite a clever guy and prolly wouldn't have knowingly said that if he knew the truth about type 2.

BTW I know it's fake and planned before any of you say so I just love the show. Soap opera for men I think it is called.

I saw that clip. From what I have gathered the consensus is that Type 2 is mainly due to obesity. While that MAY be true in some cases. I certainly don't think that all Type 2s were /are obese. Other factors come into play as well IMO.

As ever, the popular conception is that Type 2 is purely related to obesity which, whilst undoubtedly a major risk factor (if not the major risk factor) isn't true of all Type 2s. It's just the simplest message that the media and health authorities can put out in the hope that it influences the largest number of people liable to be at risk to change their ways.

Actually, if you think about it, it is actually working - so many people these days instantly associate Type 2 diabetes with obesity that the message is commonly popping up all over the place. The problem for people with diabetes is that they then get the 'blame' for succumbing to something 'totally avoidable' because the message is far too simplistic. But maybe some people who are at risk are taking that simple message as a warning and reducing that risk by taking better care of themselves.

I love my wwe won't miss a show so soap opera for women toooo

Yeah Angle is in TNA and Mr Kennedy (Now Anderson) plus the Hardys well now just Jeff.

If you go back to WWF day Kamala a very old wrestler has had to have both his feet amputated due to diabetes.....
