Relationship to Diabetes
Carer/Partner
Diabetes certainly has a pronounced emotional impact upon families and particularly on those with a close relationship with those with diabetes, but this important impact is often ignored. Our researchers at Cardiff University have created a simple questionnaire to measure this impact. We need your help to test this questionnaire before it can be used routinely to better understand and care for the health and social needs of partners and families. This research is the first step towards targeting appropriate support to family caregivers of people with diabetes...so please help us!
The researchers invite people with diabetes and their partners or other family members (aged at least 18 years) to complete this 5-minute survey:
“This study has been approved by @Josh DUK.”

This has been approved. Please help if you can.

It doesn't have any impact on my family and most of us are type 2. We're just in denial or not wanting to make a fuss!

Bit limited in all, to sort out between how greatly husband's own health affects his ordinary life rather than his wife's health affecting it.

Unfortunately I don't have a partner or any family left for it to have an impact on!

Good luck with your research @Rubina

Thank you for your message. You may think that your condition had little or no impact on your family, however, this information is just as important to our study. So we would be grateful if you could still encourage the completion of the survey.

Dear Mike,
Thank you for your wishes. Having been a diabetes educator for a long time, I have seen families struggling once someone is diagnosed with diabetes type 1. I have been actively involved in facilitating the 'Diabetes Conversation Map' session with people with diabetes and their families.

Dear Jenny,
Thank you for your message. It may be that your health is not impacting your husband's health; however, this information is equally important to my study. So we would be grateful if you could still encourage the completion of the survey.

We'd already completed it when I told you what we thought about that part of the Qnr!
