Hi I can't believe it's finally happening I've got to start a work placement on Monday at a nursery working with babies it's got four days this week and I'm so scared I've been working where I am for ten years which is a preschool I suffer from anxiety as well as diabetes and I'm scared something will go wrong or I will look like an idiot not even knowing how to hold a baby . worst thing is my tutor is coming out Wednesday to observe me do physical activity and sensory activitity with babies to try and get them communicating and speaking oh my gosh I'm so scared I can't relax I'm worried the staff will be horrible and make me cry.i have to do four days 0830-3 I have chosen

First of all well done on getting the placement. I supposed you have been interviewed in which case they will think you are up to the job. As difficult as it is try not to overthink it as you will imagine all sorts which probably not happen. You are naturally going to worry about it but the staff thee will help you

Why would the staff be horrible? You’ll be a staff member there too once you start. Would you be mean to a new person? No, and they’re not likely to be either.

Thank you I wasn't interviewed because it's voluntary unpaid work experience as part of my course xx

Do you judge other people? I’m pretty sure you don’t. There’s no reason why they will judge you. They’ll know you’re new and they’ll remember that they were new once too 🙂

@corriefan being anxious is quite natural when starting a new venture and you are for sure not an idiot, so just breath and enjoy your new adventure and have fun and let us know how you get on.

In a new job or situation things can be very tiring. In your shoes, I'd find the shorter days better.

Good luck with it all. You'll be fine.

I’ve committed myself in the past to doing things, with the full confidence that I am capable of seeing it through, but then as the time drew near, I’ve had reservations about whether i can actually see it through. I have found it helps to go back in time, and consider the frame of mind I was in when i first committed, and remind myself that at that point, I thought myself capable, and that therefore, am!

Be positive. Try not to think of it as something you’ve been “forced to do”. It’s work experience, it’s something you can add to your skill-set and include in your CV. You will gain from it.
