I'm not convinced I am diabetic!

Re stain - GP Guidelines merely say that ALL diabetics (every single one sans exception) are at greater risk of practically every medical condition known to humankind and hence - because it's cheaper to prescribe statins than treat a heart attack - statins need to be advised for every diagnosed diabetic no matter who when or what. Hence your GP obeyed, which he has to if he wants paying by the NHS.

It's not about YOU or ME personally whatever, so may as well put that out of your mind if you are going to have a long term condition, mentally survive and continue seeing a GP (any GP) as needed! LOL

OMG! Get to a Doctor! 🙂
That's a great reading before n after.

Hi. When I went to the Dr's last April i was very down and shaky, and a BT showed a level of 51, (Diabetic) - Shock horror! But my GP gave me a grace period of 3 months to see what I could do with diet alone. I brought level down to 47, she and I were very encouraged by this, But then I went and messed up over Xmas and stepped back into the diabetic range of 48 in January. However the Dr saw this as a minor hiccup (not enough will power around all the goodies!!) and has given me a further 3 months, I guess because i dont have any other major health issues ( a little glitch in my BP, but now that has stabilised, too much caffeine i suspect!) You dr may have put you in the diabetic range because of your history /current health issues? You had is that gestational diabetes?? (GTT) and you say your weight currently needs a little attention. My advice would be, forget what the label is, diabetic or pre diabetic, take this as an opportunity to tighten up on those things that need a bit of care and attention. Looking at your diet will help - as you say now is the time to give yourself a kick (not too hard though! LOL) Many people out there would be wise to take a leaf out of your book and start improving their health. There are loads of resources on here for food ideas, peoples stories on how they cope day to day, light exercise regimes, all things to get us moving and its all beneficial. Ive already lost 8lbs and im on day 21 - slowly and surely. And the changes ive made are for life because I know im probably in this thing for the long haul, I do with you every sucess, and please let us know how you are getting on. All the best.

My husband was told he was diabetic. He immediately went on a strict diet and his blood glucose remained within the normal range, for several months and even believed he was not diabetic. He asked the GP to change the records to say he was not diabetic but she said she could not do that. So because his records say he is diabetic he gets a regular check up every year, including a full blood test. Normally he would not be going to a doctor nor having blood tests. First time his blood test showed something wrong with his liver that the doctor wanted to follow up with an ultra sound scan. Turned out nothing wrong with his liver but the scan turned up an aortic aneurysm. These are silent killers as there are no symptoms. Because of this he was forewarned, kept an eye on, and when it got to becoming dangerously large he was operated on. That saved his life. A year or so later, during the routine blood test it was found that his PSA and calcium were too high, so was fast tracked for prostate cancer. As it was he could not have an operation, because they found he had AF, it was still contained and he was able to have radiotherapy. He only had this done a year ago so early days yet, but his 3 monthly check ups so far have been good. So having diabetes saved his life twice. He still has a good HbA1c so his diabetes is still controlled by diet with no medication.
