Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
According to the letter from the eye department today which listed all of my conditions I'm type II. If he got this wrong I hope he was right about my eyes🙄

I love the poem - maybe it is true for me😱

I had that as well once. The most promising start to a retinopathy scan I've ever had was "So, let me check, you're a T2, you've had diabetes since 2011 and you're on tablets."

I'm a T1 on insulin and have been since 1998. I'm surprised they even got my gender correct.

Lol...I will never forget the docs appt at my uni medical centre when the doc finished asking me about my symptoms, turned to face me & gravely said "I'm sorry to have to say I think you might be diabetic." At this stage of my life I'd had t1 for around 20 years, since I was diagnosed under 1 yr old. I was very puzzled how to reply without sounding very sarcastic! 🙄😱 Nice to see he'd read my notes!!! :D

When I was first diagnosed, just before my 18th, I was told by a locum doctor, that I must have T2 as I was too old 😱 to have T1, a month later, after having to take Tablets that had no effect on my BGs I finally got to the Hospital where the DSN who I saw told me that I had T1 with very high BGs so was given a large dose of Insulin and told how to do it myself. I hope I never get told that I should be T2 now, I would probably have to ask them how much Diabetes training they had had, and whether they knew what they were talking about.
