Hi. I wish you all good health. Having a smile on your face i want to start a conversation by a question. How you solve the problem of periferic neuropathy. I fight with this for over 2 years. I have start with left foot toes and gone slightly to right foot as well. I use Gabapentin, but usless, just give me sleep sometimes. I use B12 and B complex and Milgamma a B complex bought from Slovakia. Is helping but....when i go to sleep sometimes i rather cut my feets than have them. I am curious how you solve this? Thank you

Welcome @Gabriela 🙂 Sorry to hear about your neuropathy. My first thought is to see if your doctor can prescribe a different medication if Gabapentin isn’t working for you. Some people find some tablets work but they don’t work for other people, so it’s worth trying another medication if possible.

It’s good that you’re taking B vitamins. They can help. A relative of mine had non-diabetic neuropathy and they took supplements. One is Alpha Lipoic Acid. You have to take a largish dose and it’s not cheap, but it’s prescribed for neuropathy in Germany. Also, benfotiamine (a special form of vitamin B1) and other B vitamins can help. As you’re on other medication, it would be sensible to check any supplements will suit you and your medication regime before buying them. For the Alpha Lipoic Acid, it’s best to build it up slowly - ie one 200mg tablet a day for a week or so, then two tablets, then 3. You’ll see they’re expensive but they do help. If you’re on insulin or other glucose-lowering medication, be careful because Alpha Lipoic Acid can increase your insulin sensitivity.

Also, it’s very important to try to keep your blood sugar in range. Some people recommend staying under 8.5. Can you tell us a little about your diabetes and what your blood glucose is?

Welcome. I was diagnosed with Diabetic Neuropathy. The treatment I have been advised and read about states it is basically the same as Diabetes. Get those blood sugar levels within target consistently. You've then got everything else on top of that foundation.
