Hi, my name is Simon. I'm 38 years old, from the Wirral. I've been T2 (sounds cooler, like Terminator 2) for 11 months now. When I was diagnosed I had a blood glucose of 24.

I'm a geek/nerd, into marvel, sci-fi etc. Play guitar, bass and record music.

Pretty much sums me up in a soundbite! :D

Hi Simon, welcome to the club no-one wanted to join. You mentioned in your other post, you pretty much self diagnosed before getting confirmed with the dr. What lead you to try and do that? What symptoms were you having? Are you on tablets? Are they working? Theres loads of T2s here with a wealth of information and advice if you want it (I'm T1 so less help on some aspects but great on logic problems...) so any questions, fire away!

Hi Simon, welcome to the forum 🙂 How have things been for you? Are you on any medication for your diabetes?

Also a sci-fi fan (Larry Niven favourite author 🙂) One of my biggest regrets is flogging my Marvel comics collection in the early 1980s because I was hard up - had loads of titles from throughout the 1970s and quite a few from the 1960s, would be worth a fortune now, I'm sure (I got £80 for about 400 of them 😱)

Please let us know if you have any questions, there are lots of people here always happy to help 🙂

Hi! I had a number of issues going on and I didn't know why. Pain in my feet and legs, exhaustion, some ED, excessive sweating and a whole bunch of things. For whatever reason, I stumbled onto a type 2 diabetes symptoms web page and low and behold if I didn't have almost all of them. That made me go get a blood glucose tester from ASDA and see whats up, then I went had got myself tested.

I think my meds are working. My BC is kinda high at the moment so I need to figure out why it is. But I was on metaphormin to start with, and it made me super sick and ill. Now I am on slow release metaphormin (I forget the name).

Wow yeah that would be quite the nest egg now! If you are into comics and geek stuff, check out the show Comic Book Men. It's a reality show in Kevin Smith's (Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma) comic book store. It's really fun and people bring in all kinds to sell.

Hi & welcome to the forum. Do you like Metallica?

Welcome on board mate, I'm recently diagnosed T2, like a lot of those topics, but there is one question I have to ask before I can truly pass judgement. Do you prefer your stars of the trek or wars variety?

Welcome from a fellow T2 (I'm the liquid metal one) who's 16 month (close on 17) in.

Welcome Simon, sounds like you've got your head round things. I am a regular Hulk vs Spiderman player with my grandson, but I always have to be Hulk. (tho I did get a go at Captain America last week)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The onlily comics I read was Judy and Bunty then moved on to Jackie. Music wise I never really got beyond the Beatles! 😱🙄

I like both. Haha. I can't commit to either. I mean, both have good points(Kahn) and bad points (Jarjar). But it if was life or death...Star Wars. But not the prequels...

Yes I do. My first gig was Metallica 92 at the GMEX Centre in Manchester for their Black Album tour.

Although St. Anger was very trying to listen to...
Even the band themselves hated St. Anger.:D

Apparently the idea with St. Anger was a back to basics sound like Kill 'Em All, but it didn't work. Even Death Magnetic was better.

Okay, I'm on the Trek side of the divide, but have watched the Star Wars movies when options were limited. Did try to watch the prequels on Sky recently, and I think I had three goes at watching the second of the prequels, falling asleep on the first two attempts!

Welcome, a musical geek myself of a punky/gothic persuasion and a test automation programmer by day. I love classic sci fi and I agree with Northie re Larry Niven especially the ring world stories

Hi from a fellow T2 musician and nerd. Been writing, performing and recording most of my adult life. Love most good sci-fi (favourite book is Behold The Man by Moorcock) and have been programming computers professionally for about 20 years, so I guess I tick most nerd boxes

Welcome to the forum Simon, from another Metallica/comic book/Metalhead, SciFi fan.
