Yes, red wine is pretty safe, as are spirits and slimline mixers - but go easy on the roast spuds, gravy, and such like. Fill up on the green leafy veg, and enjoy!

All alcohol generally reduces BG and if you drink a LOT can have very nasty consequences because while it's dealing with processing the alcohol, your liver can't help out with stored glucose if your BG drops too low. Far more dangerous than not being diabetic and just being sloshed !

As Jenny says, all alcohol will keep your BG down but, in my opinion, it shouldn't be used as a 'crutch' to control BG. General advice and consensus is that, in moderation, red wine in particular can be of benefit.

:D

Lol x if u cant enjoy whats point in living im half ure age i have it till i die only 38 pfffffffff but what the hell i just have to deal with it

Well I was 22 when I was diagnosed mate, and at least two people round the place were aged THREE when they were - and we've all had great lives so far and won't be giving up doing that any time soon.

I rather think the idea behind the suggestions and comments given anywhere on this forum are given in an effort to help other folk including you have both a happy life and a long one.

It is not at all necessary to get ****ed up in order to enjoy yourself. What a waste of money!!

Well I've been diabetic since I was two and I do enjoy a glass of wine - probably more than I should 🙂

Ok scientists are trying to develop something you inject into pancreas that cick starts starts it have you heard of that ? It would last for 5 years

There is a lot of promising research underway at the moment. There always has been since I was diagnosed 26 years ago.

Almost all the enthusiastic reporting suggests that whatever this Amazing New Thing is (and there are always lots of different ones), it has been shown to work in mice, or in a test tube, or in theory... and might be available to begin human trials in 10 years. The start and end of the 10 years is never specified. They just keep rolling it on :D:D:D

In the meantime, we just have to try our best with the tools we have to keep ourselves healthy long term despite living with something that is actively trying to kill us every day o_O
