Hi All

Just been diagnosed as type 2 trying tom cut carbs etc what does everyone have for lunch besides Eggs Bacon Toms pls x

Hi Lesley.. this is what is confusing me... I wasn't told to cut carbs.. I was told to eat a healthy balanced diet with a portion of starchy carbs with each meal.. Maybe I'll get more info from my Diabetes nurse on Monday, but I'm so confused. :(

Hi Jackie My DN was no help to me after asking simple questions as to wht sort of unit of carbs she we be looking to eat say in a yogurt she couldn't even answer it and just said I will send u on a Carb awreness course lol x

I found out on one of the forums we should be looking to eating approx. 45 to 60 grams of carbs per meal and 15-30 per snack on a 2000 cals a day diet. Im actually trying to do less than this as I need to loose weight ! So far today ive had bacon egg and tomatoes Hope this helps be let me know how ur getting on or u can facebook friend me x

What you really need is a testing kit. Ask your doctor or DN, I did and they gave me one without any hassle. The problem with advice from your DN is it could be wrong. It depends how up to date they are with the latest research. Have a look on the what did you eat yesterday thread in food and carbs. Lots of knowledgeable, helpful people on here. If you need anything just ask.

Thank you so much Jean

Welcome.🙂 Unfortunately, too many GP's are really behind the times when it comes to diabetes management. I think they know that carbs raise blood sugars, but think we will die without carbs.😱 This is, of course, not true. I try to stick to no more than 50-60g carbs per day (about 20g per meal max).
