Hb1c 61 not on medication yet. Just bought a glucose meter to see whats happening at various times of the day. Fluctuate between 7.6 and 10, late afternoon seem to go hypo, sweating, confused, dizzy, agitated, at 4.4. Dont know where to start too much conflicting info, so just joined the website for guidance, any help appreciated

Hi Jayne and welcome! I'm fairly new to the club myself so don't feel qualified to give advice but there are lots of knowledgeable folk who will no doubt be posting soon.

Hi Jayne.
If you keep a feed diary as well as recording you're BG levels you'll be able to see any patterns.
Hopefully the testing you've done already will give you a start (knowing you're lower in the afternoon).
You'll be able to see the effect of any changes you make.
As Newbie, you're levels are quite reasable, if that 10 is after eating then you're well on you're way.

4 and below is hypo. 4.4 could be low for you, so you get a 'hypo' reaction. It should improve.
Others know more are this area than me.

If you are feeling funny with a 4.4 that will be a false hypo as your body got used to higher sugar levels. It will improve as the levels come down. Welcome, by the way.🙂

I got that as I was lowering my BG levels.
I used to get something similar in my twenties - but found that I needed to separate my two meals by as much as possible, that is eat early and late, and have a small amount of carbs in the morning and more at night. I only discovered this by experimenting and using a meter, so trying out various strategies should help you to sort out the best way for you to eat.

Welcome Jayne. Lots of good advice on here. This forum has certainly helped me. Most on here agree that lowering carbs is the way to go. Check out the food and carbs section of the forum for ideas.
Good luck!
