I simply cannot enjoy a good soup or a nice sandwich once in a while without bread

It's not good for my blood sugar but I can't be a monk all my life

The ones I have read about on here have either been unobtainable locally or just not very appetising ....but thanks for the hints

I know that my decline into diabetes was caused by Chinese takeaways , chips , burgers, crisps , chocolate , pies , sausage rolls etc......all shockingly high in carbs

I think I can eat decent bread once in a while and still slowly improve my levels , as is happening ?

Lidl do some nice unsliced brown and wholemeal breads

Can I just enjoy a lovely dunk of this into my soups and stews a few times a week ?

I can't live like prisoner if I am cutting out all the rubbish that's been the real cause of all this ?

Fried rice , noodles , pancake roll , sweet and sour sauce....lol ....whatdid I expect

There's nothing stopping you having some bread with your soup - I do, as it happens, though I only have soup occasionally - but it would be worthwhile testing pre- and post-meal to see what it does to your BG.

Eat the bread you enjoy Taffy but have just one slice or half what you would normally have and have lots of veg with your main meal each day. Apple, Advocado, boiled egg and nuts (unsalted) for snacks.

I don't test , I find it stressful and increases my anxiety but that's just me

Even eating bread occasionally I want to find a yummy one lol

Find one you like, sliced is easier as the slice is a measured amount rather than just cutting a big chunk of un unsliced one, then keep in the freezer so you can just get out a slice at a time.
By not testing you may be depriving yourself of foods which would be perfectly fine. Don't forget testing allows you to know what is OK as well as what is not so good.

Yes I love little snack plates of apple , egg , nuts and ham or beef

I agree but it causes me anxiety on top of my already long term anxiety illness so I don't test

Freshly baked proper bread is so lush .....maybe I could get the bakery to slice it then I can freeze it

I am hopeless with a bread knife and end up feeding the ducks with half of it lol

Hi, like you I reduced my carbs drastically but still eat bread every now and again, maybe twice a week. My blood glucose is going down nicely, hopefully towards remission, so it's working for me.
Sometimes I eat protein bread I make myself in the bread machine, I add protein powder, greek yoghurt and seeds to up protein levels. If it's the only carb I eat for that meal I'm ok with one small slice, or I have 1/2 to be on the safe side.
Last week I had a full English with baked beans and 1/2 slice of wholemeal bread and it only went up to 8.3. Next time I'll try it without baked beans.
I often eat thin oatcakes and they don't effect my blood glucose (Nairn, 1 or 1/2 packet depending what else I'm eating).
I hope this helps, but we are all different and what works for me may not work for others.

I totally sympathise, I got to a point I was scared of eating carbs because the readings were still higher than I wanted, and I was having symptoms.
I stopped testing for a few days, I enjoyed small portions of the food I was scared of, like bread, potatoes, fruit. When I went back to testing my readings were still dropping so all good. So now I know how much carb I can cope with. And I have days off every now and again, I still eat the same but without measuring. And I can get away with a lot more than I expected, at least for now.
I think when testing it was important to have realistic expectations, so for a while I had to accept that 8.5 after meals was good enough, now it would be disappointing, fasting took longer to come down so I was be happy with 8.

dont feed the ducks bread though it is bad for their health and the river health.

What decent sliced ready available bread can you suggest ?

I find most of them so "plastic "

I find , in general , sliced bread is a bit plastic ?
If you have a Morrisons then have a look at their range of seeded breads as they are quite good flavour and less than 20g carbs per slice.
I am picky with bread as other half makes our bread but I find those pretty good if we have to buy bread.
