I really like the cans of lemon iced tea that you can get in some shops, but they seldom do a sugar-free option. Here's my version:

Put a teabag in a 1 litre jug and fill to the top with cold water.
Leave it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
Remove the bag and use the iced tea to dilute sugar-free lemon squash.
You could use real freshly squeezed lemon juice if you prefer.

Simple, and very refreshing.

P.S. Using cold tea that was made with boiling water tastes bitter, and in hard water areas you get unsightly limescale scum on it.

Thanks for this. Just made it and its gorgeous and refreshing. It will become my staple cold drink whilst this hot weather lasts 🙂

What a great idea! I love iced tea, I'll have to try this.

Will betrying this too with fresh lemon. Thanks leeLee.🙂

Tried it now. Got some peach no added sugar squash and have a flask by my bed. Yummy.

Would this work with any no added sugar squash?

Should the teabag simply be placed into the cold water or stirred into it?

Doesn't matter. You need to stir it after a couple of hours anyway because the darkest tea-coloured bit will settle at the bottom of the jug. I usually put the bag in the jug and then pour on the water, but have also just thrown a bag into a jug that has already been filled.

Its really easy to make. I poured cold water into a storage jar (didn't have a jug) then sliced in a whole fresh lemon and left for a few hours.
I then shook the jar before pouring.
Had some last night - delicious!

Someone gave me some raspberries out of their garden, too many to eat all at once, so I liquidised some and added them to my iced tea with a little sweetener. Gorgeous!

I'm going to make some raspberry frozen yoghurts too and scarf the rest.
