My last blood test was good and the doctor said that I seem to be mastering my diabetes very well, still on 3 tabs a day but she was very pleased with me...! one thing that did show up on my test was that I had a boarder line reading on my platelets so had to have second test but it went down so she was not to concerned but got to go back some time in may to have another test just to keep an eye on them she did say that she was going to put me on these MICROPIRIN 75mg EC... one a day not very sure what these do she say's that they help to control my diabetes...? did not understand how..? any body also on these any help would be very much appreciated...! also now trying to give up the old fags...! I have not had one know for two weeks but it is very very hard this is the longest that I have given up for, my blood oxygen level at the first session was 18 but my last count was 5 so things are looking up but I have been smoking since I was 16 and I'm 58 now so that a long time I'm only on the spray at the moment I can't say that I feel any different at the moment the craving is still there..! and I'm eating more to compensate for not having one..! and I'm spending about ?3 a week on sweet's not to bothered about that got no teeth to worrier about...!! I was trying to get some info on these fake fags they say that these help as they don't have any of the nasty's in them it just give you the nicotine fix your oppinon would help on these..? any way that's about it for now would just like to say thank you for all your help in the past and look forward to hearing from you again will keep you posted... THANKS.....PINKY

Hi pinky, good to hear from you again 🙂 Sorry to hear you had no success getting the strips, but good that you are managing to control your blood sugars well nonetheless. Micropirin is just aspirin, a 'gastro-resistant' or slow-release version which should irritate the stomach less. They can help with blood pressure and help thin the blood etc. so are often prescribed for people with diabetes.

Regarding the smoking - well done! Personally, when I stopped I did it cold turkey. The biggest hurdle to overcome when stopping is to break the nicotene addiction, so if you are keeping yourself addicted by using gum, patches or sprays (or artificial cigarettes) then it just makes it harder and longer to stop. I would highly recommend getting Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking, as that is what helped me and many other people I know 🙂
