Relationship to Diabetes
Other Type
I went to the doctor worried I might have diabetes or some form of it about 3 years ago and she sent me home with a blood testing kit and I had to record my bloods for a week. She read over them and said they were a little bit off but they were ok and nothing else was done about it
I have suffered since then with different “funny turns” and now Ive had enough. My aunty is type 1 and so are a few of my great aunts. Im 22 and I have chronic fatigue syndrome which causes me lots of issues and often everything is just put down to that. But I know theres something not right with my blood and I dont know what to do. I dont want to go and demand tests from my doctors because Im scared they will dismiss me.

My symptoms are-
Always being hungry
Night sweats
Almost passing out when hungry
Shaking and feeling nauseous when hungry
Headaches
Thirsty all the time and needing to pee all the time
Itching

I just want some sort of advice or something from someone. I am so worried and stressed and I just want answers.

Hi there, some of those symptoms do sound similar to how I felt before diagnosis but you will have to go to the doctor's to get them checked out.

You don't necessarily have to say what you think it is, just tell them your symptoms.

I believe you could also get your blood glucose level checked at a pharmacy.

Let us know how you get on.

It does sound like maybe it could be diabetes but I think you really do need to get yr doc to check it out.

Don't be be put off if he/she is uppity. They exist to serve, and if they're all uppity it just means they're nozzles & it's their problem, not yours.

Hi @Bbfletch . Welcome to the forum.
A few of those symptoms could be related to diabetes, however the very best thing you can do foryourself is to see a Gp again and hopefully this time they will do what they should have done before, some proper blood tests to find out what is causing your symptoms.
Please let us know how you get on.

What are your blood tests showing in terms of numbers? Have you kept up the home testing?

Hi,

My GP refused to give me a blood test because she told me I wasn't diabetic o_O. She did say I could have it done privately and much against my better judgement (as I knew I should have it done by the surgery), I went privately and hey ho I am T2 Diabetic... Go back to the surgery and ask again. Please keep us posted. Good Luck🙂

Hi @Bbfletch, just echoing what the others have said - go back to your GP and be persistent. I do know how awkward it can feel to insist, and if there is another GP at your practice that you could see perhaps that would help? Do come back and let us know how it goes xx

Just a thought, could you go to the minor injuries clinic at the local hospital and ask them to do a test, I know you can do that if you think have a urinary infection and they will do a test for you

Lloyds chemists do blood glucose checks for free. Book online. Best to know soon.

Did you complain about the GP to PALS or the NHS? ask for the money refunded?
I hope you did complain, other wise he/she will just do the same to some one else.

In days of olde quacks used to chop off diseased parts.. the NHS should do the same and get rid of quack GPs.

In days of old, doctors would have instantly recognised Bbfletch’s symptoms, not as diabetes, but as a tapeworm infection, which could account for every single symptom described, not just the few that could remotely be diabetes.

In other words, further investigation is warranted.

I notice you have CFS?
Do you eat any particular diet?
Do you suffer from Gluten or lactose intolerance?

Having said that, further testing is needed as said.
