so from having a nice BG of 5.7 this Monday it jumped to 17 was also getting some strange symptoms going on.

i am just beginning to wonder with my liver not been 100% that it might be related. i know the liver is enlarged and have found out that they are going to be checking for cirrhosis, if it comes back as the latter then i am basically stuffed putting it politely.

will soon know after the holidays. enlarged liver can have lots of causes though besides cirrhosis so fingers crossed it isn't that.
 
If it is any consolation my BG has gone up into the 12-16 range and stuck there for the past few days despite taking extra insulin and I was very restrained food and drink wise, over the festive season. Diabetes is so unpredictable and frustrating.
Hope it is just the Diabetes Fairy rather than cirrhosis to blame in your case. Good luck with tests.
 
The liver is an organ with great powers of regeneration - given half a chance - don't give up on the idea of recovery.
 
@mikeydt1, if it's any help to you the liver as others have said can regenerate so try not to worry. (Hard I know)
Whilst trialling a drug off licence for my MS my liver and kidneys shut down big time, which was very unfortunate as the drug did help my MS so sods law in that dept., Liver and kidney's have recovered fully though since coming off of the drug. Time as they say is a great healer.
 
just going on about this last night and this morning letter arrived for the ultrasound. have had previous scans but this one seems to be a fasting one which i haven't had before.

the problem with enlarged liver is finding the cause bit like finding a needle in a hay stack. hopefully the scan may put some light on what is wrong.

at the moment i am just having light meals as i am off colour for reasons unknown.

have had on going liver problems since 2003 but never in all that time had enlargement until the abdomen ultrasound it is pointless of me guessing as to why and what is wrong, just a case of keeping going. the problem i have is classic of enlargement, pain in the right side abdomen which is making me off colour.

any way got my first HBa1C booked for the new year, i know it was around 59 so will see if there has been any improvements.

many thnks for all of the replies in this rather difficult area.
