I have fell out with a friend that is the same as me T2 dx the same time, known her on and off for a good few years.

I changed my diet to lower the blood sugars. She ate the same things as before as the doc said in moderation so she thought I'll be fine on my old diet err no you need to change a few things but no same diet.

My levels have been steady expect when I indulge which isn't often now.
Her levels sky rocketed and she was put on meds and then more meds. They are now thinking insulin to bring the levels down to which I only said change your diet.

Well she went off on one at me saying I wasn't T2 with all the weight I'd lost as all T2s are always fat and we can't lose weight like you. I'm sat there like a goldfish at this point but gained my voice and told her that her diet was full of c**p and it needed to change to bring down her numbers. She went right in my face and said I'd changed for the worse and needed to gain weight again as I was now too thin and no one wants a skinny woman. She then left.
So much for being good pals and can say anything to each other looks like not then.
Not the best start to the morning then as we where going shopping. Now I'll be going alone bugger.

Let's see if she contacts me later on but I'll give her a few days and contact her myself.

I think you look fab 🙂 and also if you feel better for it then fantastic, there is nothing wrong with the way you have changed things round, I think your friend sounds like they may still be in a bit of denial about their diabetes, I only know a couple of Type 2 diabetics and yes one of them is rather overweight and doesn't lead a great lifestyle, but the other my MIL has never been overweight, leads a very active lifestyle and has always eaten healthy, it can happen to anyone unfortunately, I hope you feel better soon and you and your friend can get passed this if that is what you both want xx

We've had our arguments over the years. So nothing new there but I think she is very worried over the insulin if they go that route. I'll let her calm down and phone in a few days. That's if she doesn't phone first as it was wedding shopping we where of to do for my lassies wedding. Hence the big hat in my pic 🙂. Mother of the bride must wear one seemingly and pal was wearing a fascinator but a huge one. 🙂
Friends eh.

She sounds like a scared and jealous woman Dolly and is projecting it onto you because you represent everything she's failed to achieve. Unless you really no longer want her in your life, give her a chance because she's hitting out at you when really it's herself she's disappointed with.

Hi Dollypolly. I truly hope she realises your were trying to help her. I don't know if she will realise this later on, hope so.
Try not to let how she behaved and what she said upset you, difficult I know.

Wot Amigo said ^
Sounds like a classic case of "freak out & blame someone else".
Can I ask what changes you made to your diet? My trigs are about where yours were in November, and I'd like to bring them down without statins if I can. GP has given me three months to try it by diet (but no advice on what to change!).
And congrats on the impending wedding, how soon is it?

She is probably scared as you say, but if she can see the changes you have made, she knows they work.

July this year. I had my dress all ordered and ready err last year till dx in Nov last year and now mine doesn't fit I'm 3 sizes down now which I never ever thought I'd do but did.

My diet is low carb but I also calorie count too as on a low carb, high fat diet we can overeat the same as any diet.
I have between 20-100g of carbs a day depending on what I've eaten that day.
I don't eat breakfast now as I was forcing myself as I was told it's the most important meal of the day when it really isn't.
Only eat when hungry that part is hard as I was an emotional eater. Now I drink a glass of water and wait 15 minutes then decide if I am actually hungry. 9 times out of 10 I'm not hungry.
I do indulge now and again with dark chocolate and hen dos lol!!!!
I also walk daily regardless of weather. 30-60 minutes nightly. They say on a low carb diet you don't need to exercise well I want to and it's for fitness not weight loss for me.

Oh bugger I've waffled on sorry.

Pal has phoned in tears. I was right she's bricking it.
Now to have the blether like pals do. It might get very deep too.

Well done on all your efforts ! You waffle away , it's really good to know how others took their D in hand also we have lurkers, sorry I mean guests and newbies reading, so it helps them too.
I hoped that your friend would quickly realise you were giving her the best advise. IMO It's good that she made he first contact as she may now be ready to get to grips with it.

I have learnt through my own journey you have to find what works for you and what can be sustained long term.

You're doing brilliant, an inspiration. I'm glad you've made up. The truth always hurts! Let's hope she follows your example (I need to as well). 😉

We are talking and she's asked me to go with her for the next review so that's mine and hers. God help them as I already have a list for my own lol!!!!!
She's admitted being in denial, head in sand all that but she has taken longer than me to see it's now time for a few changes.
I have said to do it slowly and not go cold turkey like they tell you on the diet doc website. Sod that. Just pace yourself and it'll come in the end. Do what is doable. Plus keep doing the meter readings. It was them that was doing her nut in to, also said it'll take time for them to come down. All early days.

We had a good giggle in town though I have to say at the fascinators. We even had a costa and no cakes this time lol!!!
Tried on numerous dresses and not a one to be found "sigh" for me. Pal bought 2
Life is to short to fall out completely and I knew she was bricking it, in fact I'd seen this spat coming a few days ago to be honest.
