Just had (having) my first hypo symptoms, so at least I now know that I know when I'm having one, and it is not very pleasant! BG was 4.2 so technically I guess not a hypo but it's the lowest reading I've ever recorded!

Lucozade taken, waiting for it to kick in and the shaking to stop!

It's always good to know when you've had your first hypo, or at least symptoms to going low. Doctors can only tell you what symptoms to expect but until you've experienced it yourself you never know.

But i'm glad to see you've spotted it on your own and am able to rectify it too.

Wow that lucozade works fast, 15 minutes and I'm up at 9.1! Still feel a little strange but not shaking much now!

Good to hear you have recognised it and treated it Dan. Not quite a hypo, but to you it will feel like one - as you become used to lower levels generally you'll probably only get the symptoms when you are below 4, although sometimes you get them sooner and sometimes later, such is diabetes! 🙄

Can you get your DVLA form back and tick the one that says Yes I CAN jollywell recognise when I have symptoms of a hypo .... ? LOL

4.2 is good actually, you then have enough time to treat it before you drop too low to be capable.

It's not all that nice, is it? so {{{Hugs}}}

and PS although it's awfully tempting, please don't OVER treat it .....

I was think the same thing about the DVLA form! Actualy called them yesterday and they said everything is in order and license should be issued in the next couple of weeks as they have a backlog!

Thanks for the hug, it wasn't very pleasant at all but I'm glad I've experienced it and know what to expect.

I know what you mean about over treating it, it is very tempting to drink a large coke, get some of the kids Haribos maybe a chocolate bar or two just to avoid the feeling again! I don't get any symptoms when I'm high even up in the mid 20's so the temptation is to keep myself up there but I know that's hardly a good solution!

I have been told that if your body is use to high levels then going as low as 4 -5 you can also get symptons But as everyone has pointed out at least you now know what to expect

Well this is also true Wakman and of course if us lot (IDD) start losing our hypo sumptoms the way to get em back is run our BGs a tad higher until they do. But that is TAD LOL Not a carb-fest and most of us can definitely say, BTDTGTTS an all ....... 😉

It's easy to overcompensate your symptoms. I've previously had toast and marmalade. Haribo or similar sweets are good too, just don;t eat too many.
