Pregnant mum Abby Lloyd lost her baby son just days *before his due date after *midwives mistook her *diabetes for a sugar craving.
The fit and healthy 27-year-old could not understand why she was hankering for sweet foods and *starting to gain weight.
At her worst she was downing litres of sweetened fruit squash every day, but despite telling medics there was a history of diabetes in her family they failed to carry out checks.
And tragically, just ten days before she was due to give birth, Abby lost her baby, reports the Sunday People.
An investigation found she was suffering from gestational *diabetes and the NHS has awarded her compensation.
