I really am a silly Dorris!!! 😱

Once again I have left my meter at work!! arahhhhh!!!

The problem is I leave it in my work trolley with my lucozade just in case....then obviously end of the day want to get out of work a.s.a.p.!!!!

The stupid thing is I tested half an hour before leaving and put it back in my work trolley and forgot...by the way I was 6.1 sooooooo chuffed :D

I feel so much better now.....I really do....more energy feel a bounce in my step today....feeling very happy!!

Anyway lol ;0)
I rang my surgery spoke to a different dn and was told come down and we will give you another meter!!! I'm sorter shocked as this comes with strips lol god forbid if my dn finds out!! 😱

So happy with the outcome at least I did not get any grief today...but I feel sooooo much better!!! :D

Happy days!!!

Perhaps your luck is changing for the better at last. Can you switch to the DN who you spoke today?

Good news that the numbers have been very good for a few days to start with. 🙂

They give out meters like sweeties where I am - the manufacturers give them away as its not the meters they make money out of, its the strips. And its always worth having a spare meter, like you say, in case you lose one, so good on you for asking.

Glad you've got another meter - don't go leaving them both at home or at work! 🙂 Great news about the 6.1 and it's good to 'hear' you sounding so much better in your posts lately - those high levels really do affect your mood and how you feel generally, now you are experiencing what life can be like when you have good control! 🙂

Your absolutely right....I feel GREAT!!! :D

Well my misses just picked the new meter up and guess what 🙄

It is a used one!! no box no instructions ACCU-CHECK ACTIVE with 15 strips and some lancets, I opened it up and there were traces of tobacco?
Gross!! and a strip that had been used tucked away in the pocket! 😱
So I need to look on the net to see how to use it....it is shocking really!
And the meter full of old readings...I have to laugh now as this is just my luck....so I have given the whole thing a good anti-bacterial wipe down....lol...it does make me giggle 🙄

I would phone the meter supplier of your main meter and see if they will send you a spare one, just explain what happened and you might even get a couple of meters Bayer sent me 3 free Contour next usb meters. 🙂

They should not have given you a second hand one, think that even breaks the guidelines about meters. 😱

My surgery has a policy, they don't give meters out at all, when I asked earlier in the year as looking for replacements for my ancient meters.

Glad you feel a lot better now your levels are down. 🙂🙂

Thank you pav when I see my doc next week I will request from HIM a new one! :0)

It's definitely worth getting a couple of spares.

I have one that lives with my pens etc that goes everywhere (usually!) with me, one at work in my locker and one in my car, each one has a supply of strips and lancets.

Oh I also have one that does ketones at home but I never use it for glucose as it takes 30 seconds to give me the result and I'm far too impatient!!

Hmm, it does seem like overkill but at least I always have a spare to fall back on, especially a spare lancing device, don't want one of those to break!

It is good that you have so much back up eh? lets face it things happen when you least expect it 🙄

Aoife's not the only one that has back ups, there's always a meter or two at home, for driving and when I am out I always carry one, and as they are two different meters there's always the spare's as a just in case. 😱 😱

I have seen a few cheap meters on e-bay with cheap strips so might buy a few for back up 🙂

Like Aoife, and so many others, I have more than one meter. All mine use the same strips which saves confusion and means there's always one around when I need it. I have one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and one in my kit that I take with me everywhere when I'm out. I'm seriously thinking of getting another to keep in the bathroom just in case of another shower hypo. :D

I have now sent for a few free meters with some strips so will have to dot them around, and I agree that you should have a meter in the bathroom as we do not want you having a hypo again in the shower!! 😱

I am shocked that you could be given a second hand meter with a used strip in the case. I thought that blood was a source of some diseases and that we have to be careful of how we dispose of used strips? Glad to hear that you are feeling better. You have certainly been trough the mill but are still smiling, well done 🙂
