Had my ultrasound scan today and the lady doing it took a deep breadth and said 'Oh My'

Slight exaggeration in the title but I do have 'A Lot' of stones in my gall bladder, way to many to just zap, and my bile duct is swollen and distended and she is going to send my results to Gp Monday / Tuesday rather than in the 10 to 14 days!!

The good news is that my other organs look nice and healthy :D and she could tell I have a low fat diet etc.

Hope you get the gall stones sorted out soon. These days for an op it is quite a small one.

I am sorry to hear this Di, but glad they have found the cause of your problems. I hope that you can get things sorted out very soon 🙂

Sorry you have too many to be zapped but I am glad it is something that can be sorted relatively easily and that you will feel much better soon.

I had gall stones 20yrs ago so I sypathise.
I went with a friend yesterday to see the consultant and help with translation as she has the same. My husband is helping her with the forms as we speak as she has to go to hospital in ten days to have the op.
Did you know that there are 3 types of stone. Bile; little black ones, which is what I had. Calcium; white obviously. Cholesterol; orange colour. You can have one or a mix of stones.
The pain comes when they are ejected by the gall bladder when the bile is pumped into the duct to digest the food. I'm quite an expert now as the consultant (she seemed too young or am I getting old?) explained everything and drew some lovely diagrams for us and as a bonus even spoke good English.
Just like the appendix you can do without your gall bladder. The bile duct will take the function of the gall bladder.
The worst was the diet sheet........ just lots of don'ts and no do's.
What do they say...... A little knowledge is dangerous... I'd better stop now!!

Good luck DizziDi. Have the op asap and you'll soon be well.

Hi Di,

At least you know now and thank goodness you are getting things moving.
Had the op as you know, so please ask away if anything concerns you.
It is quick though, tiny scar, and in and out in a day! Then no more pain!

Well done for following through with getting it sorted.🙂

Sorry to hear this Di at least you know the problem now though and it can be sorted x

DIY sorry to hear this but glad that you know what the problem is. I hope that it all gets sorted out smoothly for you.

Thanks guys.....

I'm not to worried about anything - just dont want to carry on with the pains - not nice.

Think deep down I knew it would be this and want to thank a certain young lady for helping me through this so far with there advice - you know who you are and I really appreciate it xxx

Wow - result! Well thank goodness you now have an explanation. Hopefully with the results going to your GP so quickly things will move at a good pace now. I'm sure you just want it all over and done with now and get yourself back to normal. Hopefully the full report from the ultrasound will give it enough umph to push you right up the list. I don't know if GPs have any say in how quickly you can be operated on, but if you get on well with your GP see if you can push it. Then you can be back to full fitness and enjoy life to the full again.

Do keep us posted, and hope you don't have any more nasty attacks before you can get the nasty little blighters dealt with!

Tina

(PS. They do offer you the little stones in a plastic jar if you do want to keep them as a little momento!)

I never got mine Tina but wish I had. Mind you my gall bladder perforated so not sure if thats why. I would just like to have seen how big they were actually to have caused so much pain!!😱

Urrrggghh - some people say theirs stank, so they didn't want em, thanks!

I am pleased all your other organs are in good working order Di, as for the shingle beach, well as least it's not Fraggle Rock 😛 but I do hope the little troublesome shingles are removed as soon as possible and you start to feel more comfortable. Good luck Sheena .

I had the pleasure of seeing my mother-in-law's. They were curious little things though, not stones at all, more like snowflakes - crystallised black things with irregular sharp edges, but quite flat I think. Weird what the human body produces. I know they can be smooth pebble like things too!

Lovely topic for discussion - still - could be worse!!!

oh ouchies good luck with the op and nice to know you are otherwise healthy

Mine were little black bits of grit; bile I was told. About 2 tspn. I was given them in a small sample jar.
My friend had all three types; cholesterol, calcium and bile.
She had one about the size and shape of a gobstopper lollypop and it was layered with all three just like a gobstopper.

I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago and its through keyhole now and as a day case. I had to stay overnight due to my disability.

On the second day I was out shopping with a friend as if I hadnt had an op.🙂
