Carina is kindly donating to me so I'm gonna try and torture my doctor at my first diabetes clinic to get me the test strips on prescription - do I need to ask the doctor for the needle-boys too - are they expensive?

Let us know how you get on at the doctor. Some doctors have a high tolerance to pain, that's why they are doctors, so you may need to use other means of torture!
 
Lancets are much cheaper than blood glucose test strips. Although lancets are meant to be used once only, many people do reuse them.
