Having a real bad off day today..." I HATE DIABETS"
Sorry folks, its makes me so angry, i have been away to stay with the inlaws for few days, they know about my diabetes and ask what i can eat, then they try and shove cake down my throat, when i refuse they feel insulted.
I'm sick of explaining things to them.
Then to top it all they offer me chocolates... Grrrrr.
This morning i had porridge for breakfat then 2 hours later my BG was 4.0 thats without starting any form of activities, i just can't win with the demon D.

Ok i have had my moan, hope you are all as good as can be expected.

I know how you feel.
Diabetes cannot be seen like a broken leg or a large cut. Because to them you appear "normal", whatever that is, they have no concept of how you have to manage your food intake.🙄

I also hate it.................

Having a rant it just what we need at times like that.............

I hope it helped........🙂

Sweetsatin, 4.0mmol/l 2 hours after porridge is excellent. If you're worried about level dropping further, then a couple of chocolates would be acceptable.

I know it's frustrating to be offered things you can't eat, but would you really prefer to be left out / treated differently as a guest, which is when people usually offer "special" food? Perhaps you could take an offered chocolate or cake and eat it after a meal later?

Ah, but is this really to diabetes - or just the outlaws? :D

My first marriage in-laws never got it even after 30+ years. My second marriage MIL was a T2 - so we were both quids in already!

I think it can be very confusing at times for some people. My dear dad tries very hard when I see him and we go food shopping, but unless you are 'involved' like we are on a daily basis it's not always obvious. Mind you, cake and chocolates you would expect to be reasonably obvious, especially if they've already been told they are off the menu!

Yes Copepod i was worried about dropping, i have just taken on more shifts and worried because i am a community carer and i walk everywhere so having to get my head round that too as to what to eat.

Hi Steff
Good to see you too 🙂
I'm lucky to have a tongue left lol

I used to get fed up being offered things.

My reply now is I'm don't fancy it right now or I'm not that hungry.

People on insulin can bolus/correct as people who are not on insulin cannot.

I burn off most indulgences taking a dog for a drag or power walking blasting my brains out to some fast tunes. Not everybody can do that, so I feel a bit more fortunate than others.

When I feel angry about D I just think to myself how lucky I am to have something that can be managed. A lot of people on the forum have diabetes in addition to something else.... sorry guys x🙂

sorry you've had a lousy time sweets... :(

I do feel for other people though, as in complete contrast to your story, I'd have been offended if someone tried to NOT give me cake or offer me chocolates!

we're all different - T1, T2, T1.5 and all the others inbetween, and then even within those groups we're different.

This is why we need to educate people!!!

My I laws have no knowledge of my diagnosis this summer, they would ram all sorts of horror stories they could possibly find own my throat:(
