I was just sitting here, minding my own business drinking my tea, when the missus brings out a packet of chocolate coated Lebkuchen. I thought bugger it, it's nearly Christmas, & had one. Very sweet but absolutely gorgeous! I didn't test my bloods before eating, but 1hr 45mins later, I was 4.5! Didn't believe it so tested again, & got 4.2! Now, does this mean i'm cured (again) or did this thing spike early then drop like a stone?

Looks like you have found your treat to go with after Xmas dinner coffee. One or two is just enough

I couldn't eat more than one. They are very rich.

I'd suspect an early spike, but who cares? :D

I love lebkuchen and totally avoided it last year, I might have an experiment, my problem would be stopping at one!

They are very light in texture, but then again, do contain jam and have a thin covering of chocolate. I wouldn't expect to get a spike off just one. I'd guess at around 5-6g of carb each?

They are absolutely yummy. Eating just one would be difficult. I just hope to get offered one when we are out, then I can politely eat just one.

Was in Aldi tonight and had a look at these - although they don't look very big they're 25g CHO each (2.5 units insulin for me) with 5 in a pack.

The tesco ones are only 6.8g of carbs each.

Oh god! I haven't had one of those since last I was in Germany, maybe 15 years ago. I hate you!

Get down to Lidl if you want one, they've got masses of German Christmas type stuff - much cheaper than you'll find at a Christmas market. Personally, having lived in the Netherlands for 10 years, I miss all the Dutch Christmas stuff.

I may do that very thing.

The one I had was quite big, not a small one. About 20g carb. That's why I was surprised with the blood result.
