Sounds like your expectations are somewhat unrealistic if you’re disappointed with 40. It’s a great a1c

if that’s without the aid of medication that’s a fantastic result

I haven't been on meds since March 2019. Purely by food choices and ingredient changes. I've been very lucky that I've been enjoying the new way of cooking very much so that it doesn't feel like I am controlling anything - just enjoying my kitchen adventures and the new side effect of being healthier.
