To keep it simple focus on what you can control, That is what you eat, more specifically keeping your carbs down to what your BG meter tells you that your body can handle.
Couldn't be simpler.
But it's not easy since it has to be sustainable for the rest of your life.

Thanks it's 2 weeks till I see the diabetes nurse , I am so grateful to all the advice on here .

I just don't want to drown

It's quite scary to be honest

Hi Taffyboyslim,

I think most of us felt quite scared to begin with but it does get easier to manage with time.

The simplest thing to do is reduce carbs and sugar and test your blood sugar levels to see if what you're eating keeps you in a healthy range. I found the good old meat and veg options to be the simplest so I don't have to think about the impact of carbs/ sugar as such.

As it seems you're at risk of diabetes, making these changes now should help to make sure you stay out of the diabetic range.

There's some info here about testing which is by no means mandatory at your stage but may be helpful to understand the principles behind it. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/managing-your-diabetes/testing

How can I keep things simple ?

Simple advice , simple easy to understand diet , etc

I don't want to get obsessed and run down loads of rabbit holes following everything

Keep it simple is what my father used to say .......does that make any sense ?
