I can't see what NHS can learn from the US system

How interesting it was to read in the Leicester Mercury that, in a private session of the llinical commissioning group, the board considered a proposed trip to the USA for themselves so they could look at the American health care system.
Is this the health system that costs considerably more than ours, but leaves millions without any healthcare and forces others to sell their homes to fund their treatment?

I would have thought that it is the Americans who ought to be travelling to Britain to learn about the successes of our NHS, that provides healthcare for all residents irrespective of their ability to pay and at a fraction of the cost of most other health systems.
And who is this outside consultant that is planning the trip for them? How much is he costing us taxpayers and why has he been used?
