Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, I've not been on here for ages. So much going on in my life. I was diagnosed type 2 early 2020, and went onto Metformin twice a day. Great weight loss of 3 & half stone, but the nausea was off the scale. The nurse switched me to Sukkarto, and I felt so much better. The weight loss stopped, to the point where after several months I asked to be put back on Metformin. I've stayed back on it, and feel fine. But weight loss is not happening - and I cannot keep my hands off sugar laden foods, sweets, biscuits etc. I am making myself miserable and fat and unhealthy. I eat breakfast every day, usually cornflakes with skimmed milk, I snack on fruit, I have a light lunch - crackers, soup (homemade spicy butternut squash usually) or very occasionally a wholemeal sandwich. Then we usually have a cooked dinner - cooked by hubby who prefers meat and 2 veg given the chance. More often than not I don't even want any dinner. Every day I feel guilty and vow to myself today I will do better, but I'm struggling so much. I hope you've all got tips PLEASE

I'd advise having a proper breakfast, rather than sugary starches. If you need to snack then something low carb - not fruit, and no bread or crackers.
Have the foods you ought to be eating on hand rather than carbs.

Here’s your recent thread with some helpful suggestions @2rs

Not keeping biscuits, etc in the house is a good idea. I’d also have a better breakfast than cornflakes. If you can tolerate cereal, then there are more filling, lower GI ones. You could also have eggs, for example.

How’s your blood sugar? Do the cravings coincide with higher sugars?
