Hello everyone, some of you may remember me, I have not been online in a long time and I am literally at deaths door!...I have gained an enourmous amount of weight, wheelchair bound and have severe Sleep Apneoa (Tests showed I would stop breathing an average of 89 times per hour!) I now have CPAP machine, which I am struggling with!

I am also waiting to have Byopsy on my Tongue, I have a large lesion on my tongue that needs investigating!....I have had so much bad news of late and my life, and weight, is spiralling out of control!

I know that eating healthy is the way, but, at my weight I feel I need to really Kick start my weight loss and I feel I want to, initially, go on a liquid diet...Maybe for the first 2 weeks?...The problem is, I don't know where to start? I have looked at SlimFast and these seem to contain alot of Carbs!...May I ask if anyone can please point me in the right direction?

I am not saying all of you will agree with a liquid diet, but I am desperate and just need some support and help....I am 5ft 2 and now weigh nearly 25 STONES!!!...I am barely able to walk and when I do, my knees and back are in agony...Please, please help me if you can.

God Bless and love to all.....Ellowyne xXx

Oh Ellowine (((((hugs!)))))

It sounds like you're having an awful time. :( I'm just thinking it sounds like a trip to the GP is in order - definitely to ask re the diets (especially re the type 2 & meds etc) but also for some moral support...especially if things are getting hard to deal with. We're here for you too - so let off steam here if it helps! Xxx

Oh Ellowyne,

I really feel for you. Gorgeous baby photo by the way!!

I just wonder if it is worth you making a massive pan of vegetable soup. Then you can eat that on and off all day long, it will be good for your system and fill you up at the same time. You really can throw anything in. I used to put in carrots, courgettes, onions, a tin of tomatoes, some veggie stock cubes and water, and any other veggies I had in the house. Boil it until veggies are soft, then puree all or some of it, I used to use a hand blender in the pan. If you just leave it then you can just scoop out a portion and microwave it.

I also make a veggie chilli. I cut the veggies until they are really tiny - again onions, courgettes, carrots, peppers, mushrooms, fry them off with a mini bit of olive oil, then add chilli powder, a grated apple or two, a tin of chopped tomatoes and a tin of Tesco kidney beans in chilli sauce. It's really yum, and serve it on a bed of cabbage or swede or some other vegetable rather than rice. It really is satisfying and so good for you. You do need sufficient calories going in or your body goes into 'starvation mode' and you don't actually burn the calories as quickly as you think you should. You also need some energy from food.

In my past experience, these liquid diets only work whilst you take them and only them, the minute you deviate it all goes wrong. The weight loss soon slows up too anyway. You might as well enjoy what you are eating!

Keep coming on here to talk though, people are really friendly and will try and help you out.

Good luck.

Tina

Hi and thank you all for your replies.
I am desperate to shift some initial weight Fast!....I don't want to stay on Liquid diet, just for first 2 weeks maybe?....Your recipe does sound lovely by the way! 🙂

The baby in the picture is my Custom 'Reborn' Baby! She cost me loads!😱

Has anyone tried 'Optislim' shakes please?

Love Ellowyne xXx

Hi ellowyne sorry you've having such a bad time of things. You could try a pure protein shake, make sure there is no added sugar and a low / no carb one. Can be made using milk or water. But before going down this avenue speak to your gp. I have them a couple of mornings during the week rather than egg on toast for breakfast. (cereals are no good for me anymore and consultant said more protein based breakfast, but i didn't want to eat to much egg, bacon and sausage as he suggested)

Hope you find a suitable solution x

Hi Ellowynne.

Well done for remaining strong through your tough times. It shows a lot of fighting spirit.

Could you request to see a dietician and be completely open with them?

They'll probably say no to your ideas but you can ask them to explain their reasons so you can make your own informed decision. You're clearly at a crossroads and need to decide on the right way to go.

If I was in your position and maybe couldn't wait for a dietician appointment, I'd do as Di suggested and speak to my GP again, then depending on what she said, I may try it for a couple of days and test my BG to see what happened and how I felt.

I wish you the best of luck with it. 🙂

Hi Ellowynne.

So sorry to hear what you have been going through. You say about your weight shooting up - have you had your thyroid levels tested recently? Diabetes and thyroid problems are connected you know and might explain the sudden gain. Well done for staying strong and hope things turn a corner for you.

As you're on short and long acting insulins, then you should be able to match insulin to carbohydrate intake and use whatever liquid products you want to. You may well find "not suitable for diabetics" on the packs, but it's your choice whether to take note or ignore.

If your legs are giving you pain when walking, then do check you have suitable shoes with padding, and try walking on soft surfaces rather than pavements etc, as that might mean you can walk a bit further. Back pain often reduces if you can walk through initial pain, although knees don't usually react like that, but longer term, weight loss will help reduce knee pain.

Good luck with the tongue biopsy.

Hi Ellowyne,
First of all I would like to thank you for your post and the bravery of being able to share with us what you are going through at present which is very traumatic. This just goes to show how much courage and determination you have.
I would strongly encourage you to get your GP and or dietitian on board before you start anything apart from cutting down, a little off each meal maybe to start with. I know and have seen peoples bodies go into shock with such drastic changes and with everything you have going on right now this is the last thing I would want to see hun.

I have been in your position and with just a little step at a time things do get better. This is a marathon not a sprint and if it comes off too quickly people are more likely to put it back on just the same way.

Please get directions of the professionals and keep coming here for support, maybe join the weight loss group here as everyone there is so supportive. Right now you need a tailor made package to suit you and not everything works for everyone as we are all unique.
Wishing you all the best and sending very positive thoughts your way.

hi
my diabetic nurse refered me to the weight loss program i have been twicw and its about lifestyle changes not dieting, a few examples of what she has told me are, change your milk from full fat to semi skimmed if you have lots of butter on bread spread it thinly (she said one of her larger clients has just done this and has lost 2st in 6months). i have recently started waling at night with one of the kids and have now got up to 3 miles every night.

its worth asking if you have a pheniox weight loss at your gp
good luck
