I’m offering Health Coaching to four people who want help

Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi, my name is Denise and I’m currently in remission from Type 2 diabetes after making lifestyle changes on my own. If you are facing challenges with any of the following and need support to achieve your health goals, I would love to hear from you!
  • Managing your diabetes with lifestyle changes and not able to access remission programs
  • Struggling to maintain remission
  • You’re at risk of developing diabetes
I can also support protocols given by your healthcare provider. For example, you may have been given a special diet to follow by your doctor or dietitian but you are finding it difficult to implement in your daily life. I work with you to find ways to make it easier.

I am in the final stages of completing my Health Coach diploma with the College of Naturopathic Medicine (recognised by the NHS) and looking for four case study volunteers. In return for your participation, I am offering up to 12 weeks of individual health coaching, completely free of charge. My program will focus on lifestyle changes based on your personal health goals, tailored to you. Sessions will be conducted online via video meeting on a weekly basis, with additional email or mobile messaging support, so a WiFi connection and smart phone are required.

If you are interested in participating and ready to commit to making meaningful changes to improve your quality of life, please reply to this thread or DM me. I am of course happy to answer any questions you may have. Thank you!

This has been approved by @AnnaDUK. This request is not affiliated with Diabetes UK.

I would like to be considered please. Thank you.

Hi and welcome @Hesed

I think it is very important to note that your profile states you have Type 3c diabetes and therefore may have special dietary and treatment needs beyond the remit of the original poster. Type 3c is very specialised and many GPs have no understanding of it, let alone a Health Coach (no offence to Denise intended), so this could be a potentially dangerous option.

Would you like to tell us a bit about how you came to be diagnosed with Type 3c and what medication you use?

Thank you for your concern. My intention regarding the health coaching being offered was to have her support in lifestyle issues- Denise’s first criteria mentioned in her invitation- so I can eat well, move more and stress less. I think all of these are well within Denise’s remit otherwise I would not have asked to be considered. However, I completely understand your concern for both my wellbeing and Denise’s practice. Thank you.

That’s right, Hesed, my role as a Health Coach is to support lifestyle changes. I have added a note to my post mentioning that I can support protocols given by your healthcare providers. We have a strict scope of practice that we must adhere to, mainly that we do not diagnose, prescribe supplements or give medical advice. The value of health coaching is in supporting important lifestyle changes that the person is struggling to manage on their own. Often without this support, the person feels frustrated and hopeless and isn’t able to improve their health condition. This is why the role of Health Coach was created and why every Health Authority in the NHS has a budget allocated for health coaching.

I do appreciate Barbara’s concern, this is a lovely community where the members look out for one another.

Thank you for your interest, Hesed, we can certainly have a chat! As I’m new to the forum as well I’m not sure how we can DM members but am waiting on a response!

I think you may have to clock up a few posts before you can DM or PM (Private Message) as we call it here to protect people from unsolicited messages from spam etc. Hopefully one of the DUK admin will be able to facilitate PMs for you. @Ieva DUK is currently active, so can perhaps sort this for you now that I have tagged her.

Oh thank you so much, Barbara! I really appreciate the help.

Just to clarify, once you are authorised to send them, the grey bar at the top RHS of the screen where your username name is displayed, has an envelope and a bell next to it. The envelope is PM/DM and the bell is for alerts. To send a PM(DM) you click on the envelope and then input the username of the person you are addressing it to and then add your message below and click send. You can also hover over the profile of the person you wish to address and will have the option of "send direct message" at the bottom and click that.

@HealthCoachDenise I've sent you a DM, after fiddling with the settings behind the scenes. Has it come through?

That’s great Denise and exactly what I had hoped. I know what to do- it’s implementing my plans and achieving consistency that I would like your support in so I can achieve my health goals. Looking forward to talking soon.
