At risk of diabetes
Hi there !!!

I recently took an online test to see if I could possibly have diabetes.
it came back as to be careful and keep a careful eye...........

I’ve got lots of symptoms and they seem to have come on altogether and fairly quickly.

I’m not sure who to call or wether to even make a fuss !!!

It was an NHS one - sorry I can’t be more specific
In terms of symptoms, I am constantly needing the loo. This overpowering thirst comes over me and I’m glugging back water but that could be why I’m needing the loo so much !
I have been thinking that my glasses are grubby but in actual fact, I’m struggling to see clearly any more - my glasses were new coming up about a year ago. I keep getting a metallic taste in my mouth/ teeth ...... I don’t even know if that’s a symptom and I have sores in one of my nostrils - it is so painful and they just don’t go.
I think that pretty much covers everything apart from being tired but I spend my life feeling tired

@Claire-lou The thirst and weeing lots are possible symptoms of diabetes. High blood sugar can also affect your eyesight.

Speak to your GP. They can do a blood test called an HbA1C that can be used to diagnose diabetes. I’m not sure about the night-sweats - maybe that’s something else - but mention them too, and hopefully you can get to the bottom of your symptoms.

Yes it’s best to talk to your Gp first, phone them, the sooner you contact them the sooner you will know .Tell them all your symptoms

If you do have diabetes, the frequent weeing and thirst is due to your kidneys trying hard to remove some of the excess glucose from your bloodstream.

If it turns out you have joined our club, diabetes is a condition that with the right info and a few changes by yourself , is a condition that can be well managed. Their is also some proof now, that if caught early enough, some people can put it into remission.

So go on make that first important phone call today.

Then come back here to ask questions and learn all you can about diabetes .

And let us know what the GP says.

Mention your eyesight too. When my blood sugar is too high it quite quickly impacts my vision.

Welcome to the forum @Claire-lou

Sorry to hear about the symptoms you are experiencing. It does sound worth getting things checked by your GP.

You can also refer yourself for extra support by running through the DUK ‘know your risk’ score via this programme

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
